Sundancer Lhasa is based on breeding from three kennels. Our most important partners are the Hylan Shotru family. Wagner and Pat Fernandes and Midge Hylton have bred for over forty years to get quality Lhasa Apsos, and we have benefited from our association with them. Best In Show Champion Sundancer Hylan Shotru Bilbo Baggins is a good example of the quality of Lhasa we strive to have in our home and in the show ring. He is a treasured pet, as well as a retired show dog. His pedigree includes ancestors who are almost all champions, either in the United States, Canada, or in Europe. He is one of three sires we are using in our breeding program, and his puppies include five current champions (making him an American Lhasa Apso Club Register of Merit Sire.

The other kennels who have had some influence on our program are El-Minja Kennel (Holland) and Galaxy Kennel (Southern California). Our first champion, Galaxy Empress Ebony Lace was a beautiful black bitch. She had two group placements with us and produced Champion quality puppies. Lori's first champion was Galaxy Look Of The Tiger. Lori's Galaxy Autumn was never able to achieve status as Ch., but is a register of Merit bitch producer of champions. Lori continues to breed her Galaxy decendents to our Hylan Shotru line.
El-Minja is a respected kennel in Holland. We purchased a dog and a bitch from them, Ch. El-Minja Daka Manjusri and Ch. El-Minja Atisha. Daka also was a Non Sporting group placer. Atisha and Daka produced one litter and we finished Ch. Sundancer's Paco Drummer. Daka also had a breeding with Funny and produced Ch. Sundancers Eowyn. Eowyn's daughter, Penny, sired by Ch. Hylan Shotru You Got A Date (Danny), was Winners Bitch, Best Bred By Exhibitor, and Best Of Winners at the 2007 American Lhasa Apso Club Specialty in 2007.
Some of the Sundancer Hylan Shotru breeding is being shown throughout the United States, as well as overseas. Most of our showdogs will be AKC registered with the kennel name Sundancer Hylan Shotru or Hylan Shotru Sundancer. All adults and puppies will be sold with an AKC registration, either limited (pets) or full (interested fanciers), and will come with a genetic health guarantee. Shots are current for the appropriate age dog. We do sometimes breed a litter with puppies available. We also place an occasional Champion in a loving home who can commit to providing a loving environment.
Stud services are available to approved bitches, but not to pet bitches. We expect all pet puppies to be spayed or neutered by six months of age. Adults will be spayed or neutered prior to purchase.
We are members of the American Lhasa Apso Club as well as the Utah Valley Kennel Club. While we show throughout the United States, most of the dog shows we choose to attend are in the west. We show regularly at the American Lhasa Apso breed specialty shows and have enjoyed success as our Lhasas have earned Winners Bitch from the Bred By Exhibitors class the last two years. Two of our Lhasas, Bilbo and his daughter Sage, have also earned an Award of Merit at the ALAC shows.
We are also American Lhasa Apso Club Register of Merit breeders.
We also do have a life outside of showing dogs. Both Tom and Marsha are retired educators. They are involved as Humanitarian missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, meaning they prepare items for distribution for disaster relief throughout the United States and the world.
Tom and Marsha have been married for 45 years and are proud of their children and grandchildren. Three of their granddaughters participate in dog shows with them.
